WORS Rudy Rack Big Ring Classic MTB. Race
The weather was near perfect for the WORS race on Rib
Mtn. in Wausau WI on the fourth of June. This race
had a little of everything for everybody. There were
wide open sections of flats that you could really hammer
on, and there were also very technical sections with
numerous roots, rocks, & tight and sharp turns between
the trees. This race also had one of the most important
things a race could have.. you guessed it... Drivers
Club member Brian Rummelhart. This was Brian's first
WORS race of the season, though it was actually the
third race in the
WORS series. Brian finished well. He placed 1st
among all other Drivers Club Members, and
14th in his age group against other WORS racers.
Keep up the good work Rev Rum.

WORS Kewaunee XC Adventure MTB. Race
......... Lets rename this one MudFest
Once again, the weather was near perfect for the WORS
race in Kewaunee, WI on the eighteenth of June. Well, it was
perfect if you were a bird trying to find a worm for lunch. The
abundance of rain forced all those little wormies right up out of the
ground that they were happy squirming in. All that rain also made for
quite a bit of mud, some mud, and then on top of that, a bit more mud.
Much of the single-track was cut out of this race due to the slick
conditions. Much of what was left to race on would not normally be
considered difficult. But this time, it was like racing on ice. Just
going straight ahead was a challenge. Bikes were
swerving,
sliding, and
stopping due to all the mud build up on the brakes and derailleurs.
Just finishing this race was a victory for anybody involved. For D.C.
member Brian Rummelhart, this was a
'have your cake, and eat it too'
event. Rumme once again finished
1st among all D.C. members at the race. He also finished 10th among all
in his age group. Good job Rev Rum. Keep on keeping on.

WORS Chippewa Valley Firecracker in Eau Claire, WI
This was the
second year for the WORS race in Eau Claire, but the first time Rev. Rum
(and Mrs. Rev. Rum) had been there to race. Yes, D.C. member Brian Rummelhart sent his wife Jodi out in the race just before his, so he
could get the low down on the course from her. He waited, and waited for
her to return with the scoop. But alas, she was only able to finish one
of two laps due to mechanical failure. So he went on his way into a race
that was full of singletrack, a couple of water crossings, multiple log jumps, and just a bit of fast double track. The conditions were dry, so
this race proved to be fast. Rev. Rum was even able to muster up enough
strength to sprint to an 11th place finish. (beating someone by .3 of a
second). There were 31 people in his age group. This was also his third
1st place finish among all other Drivers Club members this year. Rev Rum
is on a roll. All Brian could say was "Thanks a lot Josh for ruining my
chances at the Tour De France. I already had a yellow hanger picked out in my closet for my new yellow jersey. My dreams have come crashing down
as if someone cut my arm with a cardboard novelty finger."

WORS Phillips Dirtfighter Classic, in
Phillips, WI
Nice, dry conditions for the MTB. race in Phillips, WI
for the Rev., and Mrs. Rum. Yes, once again Mrs. Rum
showed the Rev. how it's done. She not only posted
a P.R. this year by just finishing a race, but she
also managed a podium finish. 3rd in her age group, to
be exact. The Rev thought he was having a good day by
finishing 7th in his age group, out of 22. This was the
best finish for him this year also. "I'll catch up to
her one of these races,......granted, I did 3 laps in
about the same time she did 2, but she got the bronze
medal. I didn't. She beat me fair and square."

THIRD PLACE
