    The Search for Matt Martin

It was a normal day off for me, I was in my lab performing some mundane experiments.  You know, searching for better training techniques for my undefeated 3CDC Tri relay team.
When all of a SUDDEN!!....

The 'Drivers Club signal' was activated.  Already I knew, 'This was no joking matter!'  So I quickly sprang into action.  One of our members must be missing!  But who?

It figured, it had to be HIM.  I found out that Matt was out training for a Triathlon, slated for this coming August.  He was out on, lets say, a less than modern road bike.  With equipment this outdated, it's no wonder he ran into trouble.  But, FEAR NOT...

Without hesitation, I assembled a crack crew of "Search N Rescue' Gods, including;  Brian Rummelhart, Chris Hannes, Matt's brother Josh, myself and John Thompson (pictured here).  A Drivers Club member was in danger!! But, It was Cori's words that swirled in my mind, "If it's at all possible, (sniff, sniff)... save the bike.", she blurted.

As they say, you do what you know.  So I went crab fishing for Alaskan King Crab.  Figuring I might spot Matt or find a clue out in the Bering Sea.  No luck!  The others followed suit and did what they knew....

Brian gathered together a group and did this 'interpretive search dance' before heading out to Kettle Moraine for an extensive, and exhaustive search.  They turned up NOTHING!  Our hopes were quickly fading...

Locking on to the microchip implanted in Matt's head (all Drivers Club members have that procedure done)  It was brother Josh who pin pointed Matt's whereabouts, and soon all efforts were focused on bringing back this precious cargo....

There was much rejoicing, as Dan lifted Matt's bicycle to safety.  It was a short while after this photo was taken that the crew realized that Matt was not on board.  With a bit of egg on his face, Dan Allemand had this to say, "I retrieved what Cory sent me out here for... but with the press on scene, we had to go back for Matt too."

Sensing the faint clicking of an SLR shutter, Matt quickly threw on a KFD cap, and began kissing the ground, as if he had been abandoned in the far off jungles of Peru.  When actually, he was stranded about a 1/2 mile West of Hwy 31.  Hardly a stones throw from civilization.  Said Matt, "I was A-scared, my whole life on 3C flashed before my eyes.  I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get cell service out here.  I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy."

In the end, Matt was saved, he made it to his hockey game that evening, and this crisis was averted.  The real winner in this whole ordeal... That's right, Matt's hockey opponents, because he gave up an unprecedented 13 goals before being forcefully yanked from the ice in the middle of the second period.  Way to Go Matt!!
