Food, Folks & Spokes
a Look Back!
As we close in on 2 weeks past the
Food, Folks & Spokes, it's time to reflect on some of the highlights of
that day. Some of the Drivers Club kids were generous enough to
lend a helping hand. Jim's son Brodie spent a good portion of the
day assisting with various duties, everything from booth set-up, and
merchandising, to event volunteer and the much envied, personal
assistant to Spiderman.

Dan's daughter Lindsey and her friend Liz were on hand to volunteer
throughout the afternoon and marshaled the 'home stretch' during the
final race. Chris found time to partake in Drivers Club food #1
(chili cheese fries), from one of the multitude of food vendors
available.
The YMCA staff was impressed with our efforts and the sheer number of
volunteers we provided, including Mrs. President Jodi, who ended up
working right through the event tear down. Throughout the day, we
met several people interested in our club and the charity work we are
doing. They took the time to look at our display board, and chat
with us on various topics. One of the volunteer highlights would
have to have been the opportunity to work the infamous
'Turn 2'. John D. and Joey Jr. were called on to do just that.
At times it was nerve racking as they had the added responsibility of
allowing patrons to cross the street
during
brief openings between riders. "We mingled, we talked, we assisted
wherever we could be of service and in the end, we had a productive,
supportive, fun and memorable time for our club with several club
members in attendance. Thanks to everyone who helped out, leading
up to and the day of the event.", stated a proud DC president Brian
Rummelhart.Special thanks to:
