HOMEY D CLOWN ALSO PIMPIN' FOR DC VOTE

An open and unsolicited letter to the men and women of the Drivers club from Phil Jacobs, candidate for the executive board.

I was just alerted to the recent letter posted by Jeff Wiedner on the web site,  just got done reading it and I am extremely disappointed, I have been a member of this club for some time now, and I saw this letter by Jeff for what it is, A cheap ploy to get some votes. It made me sick to think that this could happen, and then I thought, HEY! THAT JUST MIGHT WORK!-- But, I have never even seen  Weidner on a bike,  why does he get ink on this website? So I called Hannes, and he said "because he wrote a letter"

Well, you may know I am up for the board on this election, and I'm not going to go into detail here as to why you should vote for me over those other guys, If you want to  know where I stand on the issues please call me. I'll be happy to talk to you and listen to what your concerns are do what I can to make this a better workplace by working to deal with safety issues and  the other things that we need to address as a union and making your voice heard.

But because  I have always thought of the Drivers Club as being kinda like Switzerland, that is, politically neutral. Seems like these are different times we are in now, so I would like all of you to consider  just one thing when casting your ballot-- and that is I can (and will) beat anyone currently serving on the board or seeking office on a bike.  And I don't care if we are talking 5, 15, or 50 miles.  I'll get it  done and I have the bikes to do it.

This is my open challenge to the other candidates seeking a seat on the board,  A 12- mile Race this Wednesday, rain or snow or shine at Petrifying Springs Park, say about noon. What lies at stake?  Union By-laws probably prohibit this from deciding the election, but the Constitution and charter of the Driver's Club probably doesn't say that this wouldn't be a bad way of determining it's endorsements.

I'll be in the park at noon with my bike. If Weidner or anyone else wants a piece of the action, I'm pretty sure we can arrange a loaner bike.

Thanks for your time.  Please make every effort to make the union meeting and vote !

Phil
