THE ICEMAN COMETH
AND THE ICEMAN GOETH AWAY

After years of
waiting the Drivers Club finally made an appearance at the
Iceman Cometh Mountain Bike Epic. The Iceman is the third
jewel of the Midwest triple crown held each year in November to
celebrate the end of the cycling season. With the race
being held so late in the season and in Traverse City Michigan
it is not unusual to have frigid temperatures and snow on the
ground. For the first time in history the Drivers Club were
allowed into the race and this is what they were greeted with:

Iceman Cometh Race Profile
Making the trip
were Chris Hannes and Brian Rummelhart in Sport/Expert Tandem,
Jim Strouf and John Delfrate in Sport/Expert Clydesdale, Mike
Zoerner in 40-44 sport, and Dan Allemand in Clydesdale.
The course was much different than any of the the other Triple
Crown Races, mixing in copious amounts of single track with
monster steep climbs, making it the most challenging of the
three races. It was a good experience for the team and a
learning experience for future years. Next year the race
registration will adopt a lottery format. Anyone wishing
to compete in 2008 contact
Chris Hannes.
