CARLSON AND RUMMELHART SWEEP RECPLEX MEN'S INDOOR TRIATHLON

Carl Carlson won his second consecutive indoor triathlon an Brian Rummelhart finished second in his first career individual indoor tri.

While Carlson defeated Rummelhart in all three legs of the event to notch the title, his dominance was most evident in the swim where he pummeled him by three hundred yards.

Rummelhart, a bike specialist in team triathlons, chose the January 18 event to attempt his first ever individual event.  Also competing was team trainer Dan Allemand, also in his first ever triathlon.  He finished a respectable 21st in the men's division.  Matt Martin, suffering from shin splints finished 13th after resorting to a rapid walk for the run leg.

Martin was fist for the group in the swim with 650 yard to Carlson 625 and Rumme and Allemand's 325.  On the bike Carl shocked Rumme by edging him by two one hundredths of a mile 10.24 to 10.22.  Martin was next with a 9.05 mile bike, followed by Allemand at 7.52 miles.

With the title all but locked up Carl kicked it in to high gear with a 2.07 mile run again edging out Rummelhart who posted 1.99 miles.  Allemand came next with 1.24 miles and Martin finished the event with 1.03 miles.

Carl was cautiously optimistic about future triathlon.  "If Rumme ever learns how to swim I'll have to kick it up a notch."
