OOPS SHE DID IT AGAIN

Staged reenactment used for forensic purposes

A mere month after Ken Burns published her biography "Profiles in Courage", Kristin Aurora has met with tragedy again.  This time the consequences were more dire.

After her near death crash and subsequent heroic comeback Kristin decided when the chips are down, it's time to upgrade. She purchased a new 2007 Specialized with clipless pedals.  Her intentions were to show she was in it for the long haul.  "I wanted to send a shot across the bow of the mountain bike community.  I am here to stay.  After the honor of being presented with a Drivers Club headset cover there no way I could quit."

Training had been going well under the watchful eyes of Heather the Hammer and Justin Aurora.  Having her feet attached to the bike was a new experience for Kristin, but she seemed to be taking to it very well.  She immediately noticed the increase in power with each pedal stroke, as well the enhanced balance.  This is when Heather convinced her it was time to hit the trails.  It sounded like a good idea, so they took off to Pets.  After riding several loops with Heather and Justin Kristin was beginning to feel pretty good about herself, maybe a little to

good.  As a trio they began to slowly ride back to the parking lot on the road.  Kristen began to lag behind as her ADD kicked in.  Soon after Heather and Justin heard "What a pretty butterfly", and then a crashing noise.  It seems that while watching the "pretty butterfly" Kristin was unable to unclip from her mud filled pedals and had a fairly impressive 3 mile per hour wipeout.

When they looked back they saw Kristin on the ground with the end of her handlebar impaled in her chest. Her first crash was blamed on inexperience, this one was just plain bad luck.  Once again she was rushed to the ER and after a series of tests the diagnosis was a dislocated rib with a collapsed lung.

Kristin is now home convalescing while awaiting the possible installation of a Titanium plate
