ARCH RIVALS PUT DIFFERENCES ASIDE TO SUPPORT A GOOD CAUSE!!

(The following is a post-ride interview taken immediately after the Best Dam Bike Tour ride for M.S. in Madison WI.)

"He has been, is, and always will be my biggest rival, foe, and arch enemy." stated Leif Erickson, as he spoke of his brother K.D.C. member, Carl Carlson. "We are always polite to each other, and put on a good face when we're in each others company, but deep down, there is a hidden competition between us. There is just something  between us that just drives us to be better than the other." Carl Carlson declined from commenting when asked about the subject. Carl did state the following, however: "I was glad that I could at least bring some kind of team to this event. I couldn't be too choosey on who I took with me. Heck, these were the only guys I could get. Maybe if Leif wouldn't have joined my team right away, I could have gotten more people to commit. I'm just glad we could all come together for such a good cause. After all, this whole ride is...."  (Carl's comment is cut short as Leif interjects....." You know, one of our teammates could have taken a page out of the Riley/Rummelhart playbook. These guys were the epitome of teamwork and togetherness. Did you see how those guy got along on that tandem. They were laughing and joking with people the whole time, while helping the fight against M.S., not to mention, the entire time they were a well oiled machine. Just hammering past the rest of us without breaking a sweat, or even breathing hard."  Riley now looks up from his feet he had been staring at, his face still red from embarrassment, and speaks. " Look, Rumme and I just wanted to be a small part of something good here.  We were not here to prove who was better than who in any respect. That's not what we're about. Being competitive is just not in our nature. We always get involved with events for the fun of it.  I would never train for something like this. Heck, I can't remember the last time I've even been on a bike." " I am also  sickened to see the way those two (Carlson/Erickson) went at it all weekend." Rummelhart added. "Carl would go all out to get to the next water station before Leif, but time after time, Leif would already be there, just laughing in Carl's face......  (.Ha..Ha..Ha..)  that sound just haunts me" Rummelhart shivered as he remembered the events. "I can see the look plain as day on Carl's face when he crossed that finish line thinking that he had finally beaten Leif. Then out of nowhere, Leif sprang out and said- hey Carl, I got a good picture of you crossing the finish line........where have you been this whole time anyway. ....Carl was just crushed..........." Rummelhart excused himself at this time to weep.

Watching from the distance, Stacy the event coordinator stepped in and stated that there was food at the booths just past the finish line over yonder. All 4 members stepped over each others back to be the first in line.
